ABOUT THE IMAGERY

Copyright & content reports

Filmcode is an independent movie-guessing game. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by film studios, distributors, TMDB, or ShotDeck.

Who owns the movie images?

Films and their underlying images remain the property of their respective rights holders. Filmcode does not claim ownership of third-party film footage, movie titles, trademarks, or stills.

Our color barcodes are derived from chronological samples of source footage. The game displays a small selection of stills after the answer is revealed. Where source and license information is available, you can find it in the film's reveal panel via Source / License.

Our sourcing approach

MKIA, our automated movie curator, is configured to process source footage with recorded license and attribution details. Recognizable commercial-film research candidates are kept separate from playable film sources until appropriate usage rights are established. We do not represent that entertainment use automatically qualifies as fair use or another copyright exception.

Report a copyright concern

If you are a rights holder or an authorized representative and believe an image, barcode, or film credit should be reviewed or removed, please submit a report. We will investigate the identified material and remove or restrict disputed content when appropriate.

GitHub reports require a GitHub account and are public. Do not post confidential contact information or documents in an issue. If you require a formal copyright removal request for content hosted on GitHub, you can also use GitHub's copyright reporting process.

Attribution and corrections

If a film credit, title, source link, or license notice appears incorrect, please report it through the same channel. We welcome corrections and will review credible evidence.
